You might be surprised to discover how fast and convenient it can be to become a licensed Texas Real Estate Agent. The friendly and highly-experienced counselors at The Austin Institute of Real Estate are here to walk you through each step of the process.
The Texas Real Estate Commission requires each student to have the equivalent of 210 classroom hours (seven 30-hour classes) before you are able to apply for a Texas Real Estate License.
If you have two – three hour semester courses on your college transcript (from an accredited college or university) that are related to the topics listed on the Texas Real Estate Commission’s website at: http://www.trec.state.tx.us/education/related.asp, you can expect to receive 60 hours of related credit toward your salesperson’s license.

Once you have completed all of your required courses, you will need to submit the real estate application, an unofficial copy of your college transcript (if you have one), copies of class certificates obtained at the completion of each course, and the required fees to the Texas Real Estate Commission.
Filing the application out online will speed up the application considerably. Once your application has been received, processed and accepted, you will receive notification that you may obtain a copy of the Candidate Information Brochure (CIB) to register for the exam. A copy of the CIB can be downloaded from the web site at http://www.psiexams.com. Please DO NOT attempt to register for the exam without first receiving notification from TREC. Once you have received notification, you will call the PSI Testing Center nearest you and set an appointment to take your State examination.
The Austin Institute Prep Course is one of the most important courses you will take. We use a systematic approach, refined through years of research to condense the material you learned in Principles I, Principles II, Law of Agency and Law of Contracts into all of the pertinent data you need to know for the Texas State Licensing Exam. Terminology, concepts, sample questions, math formulas and test-taking techniques are thoroughly covered in the comprehensive two day course.
WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TAKE THIS COURSE. IT'S GUARANTEED TO HELP YOU PASS THE STATE EXAM.*
*The live prep course is guaranteed and refundable only if you take all your courses in a live classroom setting at AIRE and you do not pass the state exam on your first try. For details please contact our education counselors at 512-453-0900
The State Exam is divided into two parts: a theory portion (based on national practices) and a Texas-specific portion. Once you have successfully passed the State examination, if you elected to be an active agent, your broker will receive your license. At this point, you are now highly-qualified and licensed to start selling real estate.
